In today's message, Pastor Scott preaches about the most powerful event of all time: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Follow along using Pastor Scott's outline below. Please help us spread the good news by sharing it with others!

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

~ Philippians 3:10

.

7 I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 10I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!

~ Philippians 3:7-11

.

1But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. 3So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. 5The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? 6He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, 7that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” 8Then they remembered that he had said this. 9So they rushed back from the tomb to tell his eleven disciples—and everyone else—what had happened.

~ Luke 24:1-9

.

But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised first; then when Christ comes back, all his people will be raised.

~ 1 Corinthians 15:23

.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

~ Philippians 3:10

.

1. Power to escape the second death

.

If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

~ Philippians 3:11

.

21So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, Adam, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man, Christ. 22Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, the first man. But all who are related to Christ, the other man, will be given new life. 23But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised first; then when Christ comes back, all his people will be raised.

~ 1 Corinthians 15:21-23

.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power

~ Revelation 20:6

.

But cowards who turn away from me, and unbelievers, and the corrupt, and murderers, and the immoral, and those who practice witchcraft, and idol worshipers, and all liars--their doom is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death."

~ Revelation 21:8

.

And death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death--the lake of fire.

~ Revelation 20:14

.

2. Power to live the Christian life now

.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

~ Acts 1:8

.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

~John 16:7

.

He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

~John 14:17

.

Then he said to the crowd, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross daily, and follow me.

~ Luke 9:23
