… ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

~ Matthew 22:39

.

When the crowds heard him, they were astounded at his teaching. 34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. 35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

3‍‍‍7 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

~ Matthew 22:33-40

.

The Ten Commandments (paraphrased):

1. No other Gods before me

2. No graven image

3. Don’t take the name of God in vain

4. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy

5. Honor your father and mother

6. Don’t kill

7. Don’t commit adultery

8. Don’t steal

9. Don’t bear false witness

10. Don’t covet

.

If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

~ 1 John 4:20
